Starting School

At Bishop Bridgeman we understand that starting school is a huge milestone so our staff work hard to ensure a pleasant transition for all.

Each year we hold a welcome meeting for parents to help you understand what happens in Early Years and to become familiar with school routines. Once you have been offered a place at Bishop Bridgeman you will be invited to this meeting, which usually takes place in June/ July. You will also have the opportunity to spend time in our classes, meeting the staff and becoming familiar with the environment. This will really help your child feel settled within their new class.

As given in the welcome metting, here is some information about life in Bishop Bridgeman's Early Years Foundation Stage unit.

Before starting school in September, you will receive a welcome pack. You will find a 'social story' in this pack. This social story allows yourself and your chilld to look at images of specific areas of school and talk about life in Nursery or Reception.

We want to thank you once more for choosing Bishop Bridgeman and we look forward to welcoming you into class.

If you require any further information, please contact the school office on 01204 333466 or email Mrs Z Ogden (Early Years Lead) at
