JUNIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Teenage Students Raising Hands

BB JLT

About Us

At Bishop Bridgeman we belive in the principle of a school community: teachers, governors, children and parents.

As part of our ongoing school development, the Junior Leadership Team represents an active voice of the children within the school, thus encouraging the children to take a more pivotal role in school decision making and policy implementation.

We aim to:

  • To provide a voice for the children within our school.

  • To encourage decision making and the active involvement of children in the life of the school.

  • To encourage a deeper understanding of the democratic approaches of discussion and decision making.

  • To create a truly inclusive body that actively informs fellow children about decisions made following democratic discussion.

JLT meetings will take place weekly on Wednesday lunchtimes. JLT may invite teachers, senior leaders, Governors and parents as appropriate.  JLT will elect a chair person and vice chair to lead the meetings with the support of a teacher.

Each meeting will have an agenda established at the end of the previous meeting. Minutes of the meeting will be taken by a JLT member. Each set of minutes will be displayed in all classrooms. The JLT members will feed back to their classes within an established time.

Projects
JLT were very busy last year, they held lots of fundraising events such as the very popular summer ball.  They raised funds to create a 'JLT playbox' providing new equipment for use by Key Stage 2 at dinner times.

Voting
JLT promote British Values particular democracy and individual liberty.  Every 2 weeks JLT hold a whole school vote where all children in school have a voting token and can choose from 4 possible options.  Votes are counted by JLT and revealed in whole school assembly.  There is always an outcome from the vote such as choosing breakfast options for breakfast club, choosing winners for a school competition, voting for where our Harvest donations can go to and choosing a film to watch at dinnertimes.
